Bartlett-Collins was started in 1914 in Oklahoma when Bartlett, an Oklahoma oil man, teamed up with Collins, an East Coast glass man. Together they formed Bartlett -Collins. The company was noted for its hand-pressed and blown tableware, stemware, and kitchenware. In addition they produced an assortment of kitchen lamps. . They started by making utilitarian wares and by the 1930’s were making stemware in color. They made all this by hand!!! Their glass came in a variety of colors including pink, green and amber.REFERENCE

In 1927, the plant used one furnace with 12 pots and two continuous tanks with 12 rings to make “plain and decorated tableware, tumblers, goblets, lamp chimneys, plain tumblers, stemware, bar goods, cut glass, novelties and specialties” by both machine and hand production(American Glass Review 1927:81-82). In 1929, the firm dropped “glass” and the name was shortened to the Bartlett-Collins Co. (Toulouse 1971:76-77).REFERENCE

Hand production ceased in 1941, with the installation of a “Hartford ‘paste’ moldblowing machine.” This was followed by a “burn-off machine” in 1946. The company celebrated its 50 anniversary in 1964 (Toulouse 1971:76).REFERENCE

The founding of Premium Glass Company in 1912 marked Sapulpa’s entry to glass manufacturing. Premium Glass was absorbed into Liberty Glass Company in 1918. According to the Encyclopedia of Oklahoma History, Sapulpa became known as “The Crystal City of the Southwest”.[10] Sapulpa is also the home of Frankoma Pottery.REFERENCE

The 1940s (pronounced “nineteen-forties” and commonly abbreviated as the “Forties”) was a decade of the Gregorian calendar that began on January 1, 1940 and ended on December 31, 1949. Most of World War II took place in the first half of the decade, which had a profound effect on most countries and people in Europe, Asia, and elsewhere. The consequences of the war lingered well into the second half of the decade, with a war-weary Europe divided between the jostling spheres of influence of the Western world and the Soviet Union, leading to the beginning of the Cold War.REFERENCE

Like the “beaded handle” set shown in an earlier entry, these mugs were made Bryce Brothers in the 1880s at a time when the company may have been known as Bryce, Walker & Co. In 1891 Bryce joined other glass manufacturers to form U.S. Glass Co. and became known as “Factory B” of that concern; it continued manufacturing these mugs, although I don’t know for how long. According to John B. Mordock and Walter L. Adams in their book Pattern Glass Mugs (The Glass Press, Inc., Marietta, OH: 1995)REFERENCE

Mordock and Adams report that this mug was later reproduced by another manufacturer, Mosser Glass Co., but that these are marked with Mosser’s maker’s mark, the letter “M” inside an outline of the state of Ohio.REFERENCE

The text on this item reads as follows: “NO TEXT AND/OR HALLMARK; THEREFORE, THIS IS NOT A MOSSER REPRODUCTION

Bryce Brothers operated under many names and organizations over time, Including Bryce, McKee & Company, Bryce, Richards & Company, Bryce, Walker & Company, Bryce Brothers, and Bryce Higbee & Company. Like many glass manufacturers, Bryce Brothers was a family affair.REFERENCE

Most of the production was in clear glass, but some patterns were made in the popular colors of the era: peacock blue, amber, vaseline or canary, and more rarely amethyst, opal, and apple green.REFERENCE

Early American Pattern Glass, also known simply as “pattern glass”, “pressed glass”, or Victorian glass, is pressed glass tableware (& some related novelty glass items) made during the Victorian period ca 1850-1910, only in America, in goblets and in “sets” such that all of the pieces in the set match in design.REFERENCE

The 1880s was a decade that began on January 1, 1880 and ended on December 31, 1889. They occurred at the core period of the Second Industrial Revolution. Most Western countries experienced a large economic boom, due to the mass production of railroads and other more convenient methods of travel. The modern city as well as the sky-scraper rose to prominence in this decade as well, contributing to the economic prosperity of the time. The 1880s were also part of the Gilded Age, which lasted from 1874 to 1907.REFERENCE

Pecan the bear– BIRTHDAY: April 15th, 1999– RELEASED DATE: April 8th, 1999– DATE RETIRED: December 31st, 1999– Estimated Value– Under Investigation

Pecan the bear can be found with 5th generation tags, respectfully.

Pecan, like Almond the bear in the April 1999 releases, sports the “floppy” bear body style. THis, along with the old face, new face, and lay-down styles, is the forth Beanie bear body style. THough Ty has labeled Pecan a “gold” bear, he appears to be, well, pecan-colored. The bottoms of his paws are dark tan, and his toes, like many of the January and April 1999 releases, are embroidered into his paws. A meber of the much-loved bear family, Pecan will be a good investment but also a much-loved toy. Highly Recommended

Each toy has an inner poseable lining (metal threads that allows the toy to remain in a certain posture or pose)[citation needed] and is stuffed with plastic pellets (or “beans”) rather than conventional stuffing (see PVC and PE), giving Beanie Babies a flexible feel. In a rare interview Warner said “The whole idea was it looked real because it moved.”REFERENCE
